Our tent is set up behind the Austin House Café courtesy of the owner for the space. Will most likely be a sticky night without a shower or sink (besides that in the café) but we'll be okay. Woke up at 4:30A and started before 5 to charge up and over Dixie Pass. A great ride, though still very hot. A new game developed - "Will the Prairie Dog Make It?" Basically, we cheer for the prairie dog to win - so far all winners. The mountain backdrop to the farmland made for amazing scenery today. Riding in the morning is really amazing - the best riding of the day by far. Hoping the warm weather tones down but expect to see more child-like stares from cows and plenty of agricultural watering of the (former) desert for the next few days…
Holy hot - projected 100 degree weather in the high deserts or Oregon. We made it in around 11 am to the Austin House and are merely a day and a half away from Idaho. The rides have been wonderful in the mornings. Quiet and cool with very little car traffic.
I've got a real problem with self-control and eating. I don't know how Al Roker does it with his stapled stomach. It was like he sold so much overpriced real estate. Too bad. Anyway my stomach definitely does not have enough space for the alfredo sauce I just shoveled in there.
