Slow start with huge thunderstorms this morning. So far we've made it to Mentor. We stopped for a nature break and bumped into another helpful soul, Frank, an antique shop owner who wanted to take us out to lunch. It was perfect timing as the rain really started coming down and the thunder chimed in as well. After some slices of pizza, we waited out the rain a bit in Frank's shop while he did some packing for some shipments. We opted to move on which worked out well as the rain let up for the next 40 miles. With the late start and waiting out the midday storm, we got to Conneaut around 5:30 pm soaking wet and were greeted with more rain. We decided to stay at the quaint Scottish B & B owned by Mary and Andy Campbell. Mary was amazing. We had the whole house to ourselves - bedroom with a king sized bed, living room and kitchen all decorated with a Scottish tartan plaid flavor. Mary was very concerned about where we'd eat because everything is closed on Mondays. She ended up giving us a ride to Perkins and picking us up an hour later after we had eaten our warm meal.

Mary and Andy both came to the States about 40 years ago meaning to stay for 5 years as sojourners and then return to Scotland. Six kids later and a life in the states her children are living all over the states from Seattle, NYC, Denver to Toronto.

Sitting in an easy chair for the first time in weeks, the day's dampness drifted away easily. It was a long but satisfying day.
