Lovely day. Monroeville was very nice and I slept well in the a/c biker hostel. I crawled deep into my cozy sleeping bag. Eddie and I were both feeling very content today. We made some adjustments to the course which turned out to save us 10 miles or so and we are not worse for the wear. We did have to face the wind most of the day but again it didn't seem to phase us. Eddie shed some of our weight by sending back some unneeded stuff which made him very happy. (It had been nagging at him for days) The best part of the day and (dare I say) the trip was in the last 5 miles into Bowling Green. Once in Rudolph, Eddie noticed a bike route which the post master confirmed led right into BG. Great! Cruising into BG, we picked up some cork to remedy my numb fingers and found a great brew pub where we indulged in burgers and great beer.
We got a hotel in BG to watch le Tour on OLN again. We'll have a late start tomorrow after Stage 13 - in the Pyrenees. I am starting to sense that this might end - this trip that is. Sigh. I feel so strong…I finally feel like a cyclist. What will happen to the runner turned cyclist when she returns to the Bay Area?
I love college towns. It's not the young vibrant culture that usually accompanies them but the possibility of drinking a good beer. I don't mind Budweiser. My dad is a Budweiser man. But it's nice to have a choice every once in a while and Bowling Green had plenty of bubbly libations.
