Easy morning out of Jackson into Grand Teton National Park. Unbelievably beautiful. Set up camp and went for a short hike around Jenny Lake to Inspiration Point. We took a little boat ride back (didn't want to over-exert ourselves). The clouds cooled the temperature down a bit. The hiker/biker sites at Jenny Lake are amazing - right at the base of the mountains. Frank met up with us and we enjoyed a great ice cream snack (Frank ate an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's) and heard mores stories of his past tours.
We headed north, very briefly to the big mountains. The stark peaks of the Teton range provides a dramatic setting for the Jackson Hole region. This trip so far has been an exercise in understanding our American communities. So much of our lives now are cordoned off within the confines of our vehicles and the way we are so protective of our property. The experience of biking has allowed Meg and me to be received in each town openly. Had our trip entailed driving across country we would not have met many of the people we already had nor experienced the subtleties of the surrounding landscapes.
