Got dropped off at the Vershire Post Office and said our goodbyes again. We had a much better start today with a dry cool day ahead of us. I knew after the first 10 miles that we were back in our groove and would make some distance today. The roads were rolling and choppy at times but a overall was a great route running just south of the White Mountains. We had to stop again to fix another Eddie flat (#5). This time it was a huge piece of glass causing a dramatic PSSSSSSSSSTTTTTT sound and immediate flat tire. My bike computer has decided it didn't like the rain and has stopped working. This was a very difficult event seeing that I had gotten used to gauging the day by the ride time, distance and my speed. My only source of entertainment - gone.

With my tummy full of a ham and cheese sandwich and some peanut butter chip pie from Plain Jane's diner, I began a new journey. Without numbers, I study the map but mostly try to engage my environment and the contours of the route. I felt that I could concentrate much more on how I felt and went with that instead of looking at my broken computer. I am happy to give this new phase of the journey a try. Last day tomorrow. I'm both excited and nervous to complete this trip. I get butterflies in my stomach and a lump in my throat picturing the end.

It was another round of morning good byes as we prepared for yet another attempt of finishing this trip. Marc gladly took us to the point of our last bought with nature and left us to begin where we had stopped the other day. The penultimate day brought pain and extremely sluggish legs. The previous days' events, the days of riding, and the idea of almost being done has taken its toll on me. Meg on the other hand seems to be doing extremely well and is pedaling along effortlessly.
