flat number 4

After a slow achey dripping morning, the day warmed up into a good ride. Eddie got another flat tire (I replaced my rear tire yesterday…perfect record on flats so far) but we mad it to Rochester pretty early. I have a little knot in my leg but other then that I am feeling great. I think my problems now are largely mental, but I don't think the sun will help tomorrow. I don't know what I will do beyond this trip.

Moving closer to the finale, I can almost feel the Atlantic. There is both a joy and sadness to the ending of the trip but it indeed must end. After last night's bad Canadian beer, we both had dull headaches this morning. Our legs were tired and we haven't had a day off since July 6th. We discovered that the days off sometimes were worse then just taking a short day, this way your legs got to stretch out but not get over worked.

We tried taking the Erie Canal route but the packed gravel had been softened too much with the passing rains and made it a bit too difficult to pedal. We opted to stay on Route 31 (also NY Bike Route 5) which was still a pretty good biking road.
